Star Player: Tim Tebow
Tim Tebow! Ok So I'm like every other girl with a pulse and think Tim Tebow is soooooo unbelievely hot! He's talented, sweet and a Christian who's saving himself for marriage! I love that he openly admits that he's a Christian Virgin. People say he's not a very good QB but then they say he's a miracle worker! He's extremely talented and pulls out the win when it counts the most......the last second. Even though his last game wasn't a sucess he's still a good QB!

Star Player: Jr martinez
You look at JR and you probably think how he thought, that he probably would never find love. He has found love and success. I think true, unconditional love is more important than any success. If you found true love, you have at least succeeded in one thing and wha good is success if you can't share it? But I want to honor JR cause of who is and what he has done. Yeah he won dancing wih the stars but JR has done more than that, he has defended his country and now has the scares to show for it. A road side bomb went off as JR's vechile went over and burnt over 40% of his body. At first he was mad but then he became a moivational speaker and actor. He's on a soap opera playing a veteran. I love our military and I'm glad when they do well. Keep making us proud JR, and that's an order!!!

Star Player: Craig Kimbrel
Welp it must be nice to be Craig Kimbrel: besides you're last outing your rookie year was flawless and then he was on a vacation in Hawaii when he finds out that he was the national league rookie of the year!!! But with his lethal right arm, are we really surprised he's rookie of the year and that he did so well? I'm proud of you kid!

Star Player: Nik Antropov
Since the thrashers became the winnipeg jets I have fallen behind on keeping up with those players and seeing how they are doing. I recently looked and saw that some of them are doing ok for themselves. In 11 games Nik Antropov has scored 10 points (3 goals & 7 assists) and has 6 penalty minutes. so as you can see they're keeping up with what they use to do while in Ga! Keep it up NiK

The other Bogosian
For St. Lawrence captain and Massena native, NHL brother is a source of pride
by Adam Wodon/Web Editor
Aaron Bogosian knew he was a pretty good hockey player. But he also knew his brother, three years younger, could be even better.
So, when the boys' mom wouldn't let Zach, then just 15-years-old, leave home unless Aaron went with him, Aaron -- having already been away from home two years himself -- agreed to go as a package deal to Cushing Academy, a prep school in central Massachusetts.
"We knew Zach had to get out of Massena to be seen," Aaron said. "He didn't even really know about the OHL yet, but when he was 15 he had to get out of there and play somewhere, and mom wasn't going to let him go unless I went with him."
Aaron left home with a 5-foot-7-inch brother. He came back the next summer with a 6- foot-tall brother. That's when he really knew.
"I knew he was always going to be good; any sport he would've played, he would've been a professional," Aaron said. "It's disgusting how in shape he is."
Aaron was right, as evidenced by Zach's burgeoning career as a defenseman for the NHL's Atlanta Thrashers, who made him the No. 3 overall pick in the 2008 NHL draft. Meanwhile, Aaron, a forward, is trying to forge his own mark, currently leading a young St. Lawrence team in his senior season.
"It goes by so fast; it feels like yesterday I was just a freshman here," he said. The Saints came close to reaching the NCAA tournament a couple of times recently, but then lost a lot of talent after falling just short last year. This year, it's been tough for Bogosian to know that his last season is a rebuilding year of sorts. The Saints stood 7- 12-4 in late January, their ECAC record of 3-8 putting them n 10th place.
"I don't think that's affected him that much, because he thinks we've got better days ahead of us," St. Lawrence coach Joe Marsh said. "We're a smaller market team and guys have to adjust. We have to rebuild, not reload, and he's a huge part of that process. His work ethic is phenomenal. He looks like an NFL running back."
Bogosian’s experience serves him well. He comes from a family of athletes, including his dad, who played some football at Syracuse in the mid-1970s. Growing up in the northern New York town of Massena, he had plenty of chances to play on the outdoor rinks.
"We don't live in the nicest area. There's a couple streets you have to watch out for," Bogosian said. "Dad would drop us off and Mom would be wary for us. We were all together, playing with a bunch of older kids. It got intense, but nothing ever happened bad."
Aaron spent two years in junior hockey in Ontario border towns before going to Cushing. After that, Zach left for the Major Junior OHL, while Aaron went to the USHL, playing for a Cedar Rapids team that included Casey Wellman, Rob Bordson and Richard Bachman, all of whom left college for recent NHL deals.
When it came time to decide on college, Bogosian figured he'd already traveled enough. That made it easier to choose the school right down the road from where he grew up, St. Lawrence.
"Being a hometown boy, all my friends and family get to watch me," Bogosian said. "It's cool when I go home to see the support that I get."
"So many people know the Bogosian family in Massena," Marsh said. "The name is associated with quality kids and what goes into a team. He's a really special guy. ... He pays attention to the important things. His parents are great. They brought the kid up right. He treats people with respect."
Another influence on Bogosian was former Clarkson coach Mark Morris, a Massena native who is close to Bogosian's family and now coaches the AHL’s Manchester Monarchs. Despite a successful tenure in Potsdam, Morris' time at Clarkson didn't end well. So Morris instead steered Bogosian toward his friend, Marsh, coach of Clarkson’s rival just 10 minutes away. Morris worked with Aaron a lot to develop him into the player he's become.
"He's a player that can really complement skill guys and pressure the puck with his speed and force turnovers," Marsh said.
Meanwhile, Zach went on to the NHL. And there's never been any jealousy about it; the two remain best friends.
"You know Zach has benefited a great deal from having Aaron as his older brother," Marsh said.
Aaron goes to see Zach any chance he can get, usually when the Thrashers swing through the region to play Ottawa or Montreal or Toronto.
"I'm really happy for what he's done so far," Aaron said. "He's going to do a lot more. I know he's not satisfied."
Aaron is not satisfied either. Bogosian knows his leadership can help set a foundation for bigger things in the future for St. Lawrence, but he also wants to grasp the opportunities that are left before he leaves.
"I never made it to the NCAA tournament. I would really love to do that and win the ECAC championship," Aaron said. "I really don't know (what's ahead after school). I'm just trying to play my best out there right now. Hopefully scouts will recognize it."

Star Player: Dan Adams
Ok So this one of those entries where I honor someone who isn't one of my athletes but what he does is pretty honorable. Dan Adams is a former holy cross football player that's now working to empower those around him, especially athletes. The reason I wanted to honor Dan is because he empowering those around him, I can respect that. Empowerment is one of the main reasons Hope in Hockey and Athletic capital exists. When people feel empowered there's no limit to what they can and will do. So Dan, continue to empower all of us!

Star payer:Coach Wroblewski
Coach maybe the new guy in town but he's made it clear that while he does a lot of drills that coach pyle does he will not give the boys any grace period to get use to him. He knows what he wants from the boys, their best. He knows that they've been around the game a long time so he knows he can push them. He coaches by the quote "You don't have enough talent to win on talent alone", no matter who he has on his team, noone has enough talent just to slide by on talen so there for I wanted to honor coach Wroblewski!

Star player: Braves rookies
I know it's a cop out to honor a group of people as the star player but they've been doing pretty well for themselves, 2 of them being nomitated for rookie of the year! I'll post more when the site acts right!

Star Player: Craig Kimbrel
This cute as a button rookie pitches for the Braves and has already been compared to one amazing pitch, John Smoltz. He comes in ussually as the closer or as "clean-up" but he has done pretty well for himself only losing 2 out of 5 games he's played in and earning a 1.70 ERA. So keep up the good work Closer!

Coach Wroblewski
I must admit as much I want things to stay the same, they couldn't. After the thrashers left I was pretty sure that my Gladiators would stay and that meant I wouldn't have to get use to anything different when it came to the gladiators, well I was wrong. In July Coach Pyle left to take an AHL job in texas (which is a step up from the ECHL but a step below NHL) so I was left with out my thrashers and a coach for my other boys. I wasn't worried though cause I knew that they would find a good guy for the job. I didn't know who they would get but I was hoping for someone good. A month after we lost coach to Texas we got a new coach, Coach John Wroblewski. Coach was the assistant coach for the wheeling nailers last season and for some reason he got on my nerves! I can't explain it but he got on my nerves! During the game I went to over christmas break, they played the song from Donald trump's show and I realized he looked like one of those Donald trump wannabes that sign up for the show. But I'm looking forward to finding out who is as a coach and as a person! So good luck coach! I know you'll do good!

I love this song
Hell on an angel (by Brantley Gilbirt)
You say I was baptized in dirty water
By the hands of the devil himself
Between the banks of a whiskey river
Beside the highway to hell
I got scars on my heart and knuckles
I got debts that I can't pay
Yeah but I got a blessing that was sent down from heaven,
Baby you're my saving grace
Girl you've got an outlaw, ready to lay down all my guns
A dirty old hound dog, learnin' new tricks like cuddlin' up,
You've got a hellcat purrin' like a kitten,
You've got a sinner down on his knees
It had to be hell on an angel
Lovin' the devil out of me
Tell me how did you get under this leather skin I wear
Beneath the callouses and tattoos around the walls I built down there
To the soul I've long kept guarded, all alone I was free to fly
But it takes an angel to fly with a free bird
Baby we've got the sky
Girl you've got an outlaw, ready to lay down all my guns
A dirty old hound dog, learnin' new tricks like cuddlin' up,
You've got a hellcat purrin' like a kitten,
You've got a sinner down on his knees
It had to be hell on an angel
Lovin' the devil out of me
Hell on an angel
Come on boys
(Guitar solo)
Girl you've got an outlaw, ready to lay down all my guns
A dirty old hound dog, learnin' new tricks like cuddlin' up,
You've got a hellcat purrin' like a kitten,

star player: freddie freeman
so Freddie is being honored yet again by me because of a milestone. He hit his first homer in Wrigley field, his 18th of the season. He's so sweet and goofy, giving hugs to everyone when he does well. At the end of this blog there's a video of the homer. I love this nerd and wish him well.

More from the Freeman Files
The agony of victory: After big hit, Freeman battered by mates
11:03 pm August 15, 2011, by Mark Bradley
The adrenaline, Freddie Freeman said, was beginning to fade, which meant he was “starting to hurt from all the jumping around.” Somebody had stomped on his toe, and somebody else had yanked his elbow, and the 21-year-old was old and wise enough to know the aching would only get worse.
“We’ll see how it is in about two hours,” Freeman said, but he was smiling through the pain. Beat the game’s most feared closer — well, the most feared if you don’t count Mariano Rivera — when you’re down to your last strike and you’ll take the celebratory damage that comes with it.
Two out, bottom of the ninth, bases loaded, Braves down a run, Brian Wilson staring through his facial foliage. Does it get any better than that? For Freddie Freeman, it hasn’t yet. The winning single he drove up the middle was, he said, the best moment of his major-league career — “so far.” And it was a fairly momentous turn for his ballclub.
Lose and the Braves’ lead over the Giants in the wild-card standings would have been three games. Instead it’s five. The Braves got a bit lucky in the ninth — Jose Constanza beat out a grounder to shortstop that Orlando Cabrera bobbled; it should have been called an error but wasn’t — but they were unlucky to have been trailing in the first place. That they snatched back a game they’d all but thrown away suggests they’re made of stern stock.
“It’s huge,” Freeman said. “It’s a two-game swing. To win the first game of the [four-game] series is big.”
Well, yes. And to have beaten the bearded Wilson has to do wonders for a team’s self-esteem. The Braves had fooled around and lost two winnable games against the Cubs over the weekend. On Monday they beat a better team that had much to gain. “Like a playoff game,” Freeman called it, and it felt close enough.
About Wilson: “Seeing him run in from the bullpen and hearing people in our ballpark react got us pumped up,” Freeman said. Still, the furry closer was one strike from closure. He jumped ahead of Freeman 1-2 in the count, whereupon the rookie took two pitches, which isn’t always the Rookie Way at such a loaded moment.
“You know what you’re going to get with him,” Freeman said. “It’s either going to be 91 mph [a cut fastball] or 96 [a two-seamer].”
On 3-2, Freeman got the two-seamer. He’d struck out on a similar pitch earlier this season, but Wilson got this one a tad lower, and Freddie Freeman can darn sure turn on a low ball. “It was middle, middle in,” Freeman said, and then it was bounding into the outfield and the Braves were running around and Brian McCann was squeezing the rookie between first and second base and then everybody else was joining the pummel party.
“Right when I hit it, I knew we were scoring both runs,” Freeman said, and Wilson knew it, too. He didn’t bother backing up any bases. He just started trudging toward the dugout, a beaten beard this night.
For the past month two men have been carrying this lineup — Dan Uggla, who’s 31, and Freeman, who’s barely of legal age. Uggla had taken his cuts against Wilson and whiffed. Freeman put bat on ball and won the ol’ game.
Someone asked if Wilson was indeed a daunting figure to face. Freeman smiled. “It’s just his persona,” he said, using a nice word. But the callow Freeman has a bit of a beard himself, and with every week opponents are learning to Fear The Freddie. Because the potential inherent in this young man is scary.

Star Player: Kyle Maynad
Ok so I know he doesn't play a sport anymore but my friend Kyle is a rockstar! He's my friend, motivation, inspiration, encouragement and I'm so glad he's in my life! In January 2012 Kyle will be going to Africa to climb Mount Kiliominajaro!! I know he's awesome! I love Kyle so much. Whenever I go through a tough time I think of Kyle and I push through. As I wrote that I had tears in my eyes. I care for this guy cause with out him a lot of people would be without an inspiration. I also care for him because I know he cares for me. It made me feel good that he was proud of me for losing 50-60 pounds. I look at him and I think "you're proud of me? wow" I know that I'm so proud of him so for him to be proud of me just blows my mind. Kyle, I love ya....you know that you make me smile! I love ya, I love ya, I love ya! You are so awesome! I'm also so freakin' proud of you and I'm honored to call you fried!!

To Kyle
I’ve been a walking heartache, I’ve made a mess of me, The person that I’ve been lately ain’t who I wanna be but you stay here right beside me watch as the storm blows through and I need you.
God gave me you for the ups and downs, God gave me you for the days of doubt for when I think I’ve lost my way. There are no words here left to say, it’s true God gave me you.
Now I understand to hold you I must open my hands and watch you rise, Spread your wings and prepare to fly for you have become a butterfly fly abandonedly into the sun. If you should return to me we truly were meant to be So spread your wings and fly. I have learned that beauty has to flourish in the light. Wild horses run unbridled or their spirit dies, You have given me the courage to be all that I can and truly feel your heart will lead you back to me when you're ready to land
For all those times you stood by me, For all the truth that you made me see, For all the joy you brought to my life, For all the wrong that you made right, For every dream you made come true, For all the love I found in you, I'll be forever thankful, You're the one who held me up, Never let me fall. You're the one who saw me through through it all. You were my strength when I was weak,You were my voice when I couldn't speak
You were my eyes when I couldn't see, You saw the best there was in me, Lifted me up when I couldn't reach, You gave me faith 'cause you believed. I'm everything I am because you loved me. You gave me wings and made me fly, You touched my hand I could touch the sky. I lost my faith, you gave it back to me.
You said no star was out of reach. You stood by me and I stood tall, I had your love I had it all. I'm grateful for each day you gave me. Maybe I don't know that much, but I know this much is true I was blessed because I was loved by you You were always there for me. The tender wind that carried me, A light in the dark shining your love into my life. You've been my inspiration, Through the lies you were the truth
My world is a better place because of you
God gave me you for the ups and downs, God gave me you for the days of doubt for when I think I’ve lost my way. There are no words here left to say, it’s true God gave me you.
Now I understand to hold you I must open my hands and watch you rise, Spread your wings and prepare to fly for you have become a butterfly fly abandonedly into the sun.
My world is a better place because of you

star player: Brian Mccann
So today i'm telling y'all about Brian. He has been doing well for himself, scoring 14 homers this season & was selected for the 2011 all star game. He was also voted in by the fans as a starter. Good luck Brian with all you do!

Star player: Freddie freeman
I've talked a lot about freddie freeman and I know people are getting tired of hearing about him but let's look at the stats. While the whole team was resting on the same old same old, Freddie Freeman was hitting 7 homeruns this season. This season was Freddie's first full season with the Atlanta braves, Freddie was called up last September. I'm so proud of him and that is why I wanted to honor him

Star Player: Zach Bogosian
It's no secret how proud I am of Zach and that's before he won any awards. On March 27th of this year Zach Bogosian and Jim Slater won the Gilner-Reeves award, named for 2 Cobb county police officers killed in the line of duty in 1999, Zach was about 9 at the time. Zach and Jim were honored for there charity work out in the community. Zach's also done well for himself this season in 63 games he's played in this season he scored 5 goals and 10 assists. I have been impressed about how mature he looks and plays this season. In the march 27th game he hit a player hard and skated away with a smirk on his face and I started to laugh. I'm so proud, so good luck baby Bogie!

Star Player: Ben Maxwell
Ben Maxwell is one of our newer players and on March 27 he scored his 1st assist and goal as a NHL player. I'm so proud to have witnessed it for him and I hope that the feeling he felt causes him to score more and want to do better! He's 2 years younger than I am but is doing so well and I hope it continues! GOOD LUCK BEN!!!

Star player Jason Heyward
My boy Freddie's partner in crime, Jason Heyward, the J-hey kid! Originally a Jersey kid this guy has done really well for himself. I'm sorry to have not honor him sooner. On April 5th of last year Heyward scored his 1st MLB homer and he's been on fire ever since for the braves, scoring at least 18 Home runs last season and at least one this preseason! I'm also pleased to announce he was on the cover of sports illistrated. So keep on keeping on J-hey! We're so proud!

Star player: Rob Schremp
Here's another dude who's the same as me he's about 8 months older than me and it's just so wild. He even scored a goal on my buddy Kyle's birthday which was pretty neat. In 11 games he has scored only 2 points but it's his ability to be there and his technique that made me wanna honor him so I wish Schremp all the best!

Star Player: Blake Wheeler
Yeah he'll always be the guy who made Boris go away but he'll also be the guy who's done really well for himself. In his 3rd game as a thrasher he scored a goal but I was still kinda mad at the fact that he was one of the reasons Boris went away. He's winning me over, I mean come on he has 13 points as a thrasher! He's also kinda cute and he's only 3 or 4 months older than me!I wanted to honor him because not only is it actually pretty cool having him around but because he has done so well and has been a good addition to my boys. So good luck Blake!

I love this song
Be As You Are lyrics
By: Kenny Chesney
Man, I could use a Pina Colada
Little bit of sun on my skin
A hammock, a book, never gonna look back
Once my feet hit the sand
I've had it up to here with this rat race
Need a smile on my face
I wanna go where I can lighten up the load
Drive a little while on the wrong side of the road
Get this laying low off to a flying start
Play my guitar in the Caribbean sun
Hang with the locals at the Quiet Mon
Where you can be a tourist
A beach bum or a star
And be as you are
Gettin' stuck sure would be easy
In this palm tree paradise
Ambition fades with every wave
For the finer things in life
Maybe I'll just hang around here
Go home later next year
I wanna stay down here and lighten up the load
Drive a little while on the wrong side of the road
Get this laying low off to a flying start
Play my guitar in the Caribbean sun
Hang with the locals at the Quiet Mon
Where you can be a tourist
A beach bum or a star
And be as you are
I wanna play my guitar in the Caribbean sun

Where you can be a tourist

Natalie Coughlin
After realizing how big of a hooch Danica is I realized that I over looked the best tom boy role model ever! She was born on August 23rd 1982 and went to University of California-Berkeley. So she's not some athlete with no brains! Her passions include surfing, cooking, health & fitness, and photography. She's a 2005 ESPY award nominee for “Best Olympic Performance” and “Best Performance by a Female Athlete”. She's also a
2008 Beijing Olympic Gold Medalist (100m Backstroke), Silver Medalist (Medley Relay and 4x100m Freestyle Relay), Bronze Medalist (100m Freestyle and 200m Individual Medley and 4x200m Freestyle Relay).
Natalie became the first woman in Olympic history to successfully win back-to-back Gold Medals in the 100m Backstroke, so she's a very awesome role model I knew I picked a winner!

Ryan Lochte
Ryan Lochte, need I say more? I have no clue what I've said and I hadn't about who Ryan is. Ryan was born on August 3rd 1984 in Canandaigua, New York. Did I mention he was cute? Yeah, he's a lot better looking than Michael Phelps. He's half Cuban, his mom was born and raised in Havana. He's a University of Florida graduate and a 6 time Olympic medalist. He even won a few races against Michael Phelps. I'm thankful he actually won against Michael because I was getting tired of that pot smoker being the golden child of an amazing sport! I'm so proud to be called a swimmer because of Ryan.So good luck in all you do Ryan! We're all so proud of you!
Bethany Hamiliton
After I heard the story of Kyle Maynard I found beauty in those who have a reason to make excuses and not do certain things but don't. I love the fact that Kyle still goes out and does stuff and was actually allowed to an MMA fight! Then in 2003 we heard the story of a 13 year-old girl who was attacked by a shark (a 14 foot long tiger shark to be exact!) and had lost her arm. If most of us were her we'd probably never even get back into the water let alone surf but Bethany isn't most of us and she got back into the water and surfed. She turned pro in 2007 after years of surfing. I'm so glad that there are people out there like Bethany and Kyle who never give up and continue to do what they love to do despite challenges! Bethany credits her faith in God with her return to surfing and recovery.

Zach's so mature
I'm so proud of my little Bogie, the best prayer partner a girl could ask for. I see him at practice and he's laughing playing around and that's all well and good but look at this picture he looks like he's giving Anthony some instructions and that shows he's able to lead if given the opporunity. He was given the ooporunity last year with an asistant captain role but I don't know what happened to that but he's impressed me with his maturity and I just wanna tell him congrats on making us all look good!

My "Country men" under fire
Zdeno Chara's Slovakian and I'm a Slovakian American. So there's a lot of people looking to me for answers as to why Chara did what he did to Max Pacioretty (hitting him causing major injury). All I can say is it was something so hockey that went so wrong and it was an accident. I feel so bad for Zdeno that he had to be the one they made an example of. I think Alex Ovechkin was under fire a few times but he was never a subject of a criminal investigation. I'm glad to announce that Max maybe able to return and soon! When I hear more about that I'll let you know. But to Zdeno: Držte hlavu vysoko som sa modlà za vás!

Zdeno Chara of Boston Bruins under criminal investigation for hit on Canadiens' Max Pacioretty
Published: Thursday, March 10, 2011, 6:54 PM Updated: Thursday, March 10, 2011, 7:08 PM
QUEBEC CITY – Montreal police started a criminal investigation Thursday into the on-ice hit by Boston’s Zdeno Chara that left the Canadiens’ Max Pacioretty with a severe concussion and cracked vertebra.
Police said they are acting on a request by Quebec’s director of criminal and penal prosecutions, Louis Dionne. They added that after evidence is collected, it will be determined if there are grounds for prosecution.
Police said they are acting on a request by Quebec’s director of criminal and penal prosecutions, Louis Dionne. They added that after evidence is collected, it will be determined if there are grounds for prosecution.
“I got some media information on that this morning,” he said. “But like I said, right now, I’m focusing on playing my game, and playing hockey.”
The NHL said on Wednesday it would not suspend Chara for Tuesday night’s hit, when he slammed Pacioretty into a glass partition.
NHL commissioner Gary Bettman defended that decision after a congressional panel discussion about encouraging youngsters to play hockey.
“Our hockey operations people are extraordinarily comfortable with the decision that they made,” he said, according to The Canadian Press. “It was a horrific injury, we’re sorry that it happened in our fast-paced physical game, but I don’t think whether or not supplemental discipline was imposed would change what happened and, in fact, the people in the game who I have heard from, almost to a person ... believe that it was handled appropriately by hockey operations.”
He also said there is no need to “over-legislate” hits to the head.
Canadiens owner Geoff Molson said in an open letter to the team’s fans on Thursday that “the Montreal Canadiens organization does not agree” with the league’s decision and that he had made his position clear to Bettman.
“The news of the NHL decision (Wednesday) was a hard blow for both the players and fans of the Montreal Canadiens,” wrote Molson, who noted that Bettman had agreed to make the issue a priority at the league’s general managers’ meetings next week in Florida. “It was one which shook the faith that we, as a community, have in this sport that we hold in such high regard.”
In Toronto, Prime Minister Stephen Harper said the NHL, “for its own sake,” should look seriously at the increase in serious injuries. He declined to comment on the hit on Pacioretty.
Bruins coach Claude Julien said after practice that he wouldn’t comment too much “because no matter what your answer, there’s always going be two sides to that. We’re supportive of our player. We know he didn’t do it on purpose. It wasn’t intentional. I said that yesterday.
“But, at the same time, I understand their frustration at the other end because we’ve been on the other side of the coin, and it’s normal to be frustrated and I understand them as well. And that’s basically my thoughts on that.”
This cloud hovered over the Bruins, the leaders of the Northeast Division, as they tried to snap a two-game losing streak.
“There’s still things hanging over our heads right now. It doesn’t seem to want to disappear. And those are situations that are unfortunate, and they’re not easy to deal with for anybody, whether it’s the organization, the players and everybody involved here,” Julien said. “It’s not an easy situation because we understand that there’s a player that’s injured at the other end. As I mentioned earlier, we’ve had that happen to us. It goes past the game itself. We’re talking about individuals. We don’t wish that on anybody. And that kind of stuff doesn’t disappear overnight.”
Bettman said Pacioretty’s injury is part of the game. He also said most concussions and head injuries this season have been from accidents or players falling – rather than as the result of hits. There, indeed, has been strong debate this season over injuries from hits to the head. Pittsburgh star Sidney Crosby is among those sidelined with such an injury. In a related matter, Air Canada has told the NHL it is considering withdrawing its sponsorship unless the league tightens rules to reduce potentially serious injuries.
“Air Canada is a great brand, as is the National Hockey League,” Bettman said, “and if they decide they need to do other things with their sponsorship dollars that’s their prerogative.”
Dionne filed his request for an investigation after watching television footage of Chara’s hit, his spokeswoman said.
“The police investigation will be held. Like all police investigations, evidence will be gathered and an investigation report will be submitted,” spokeswoman Martine Berube said. “(The DCPP) will then evaluate to see whether there’s grounds for prosecution.”
Asked what kind of punishment could be assessed in a case like Chara’s, she replied: “It’s too early to say. That would depend on what charges are laid. That’s a little difficult to predict at this point.”
Pacioretty, a left wing from Connecticut, is a regular top-line player for Montreal. With he and Chara racing for the puck near the player benches, Chara checked Pacioretty into the boards, sending him slamming into a stanchion supporting the glass.
The hit drew criticism from Gary Lunn, the minister of state for sports, and others outside the league. Lunn called it unacceptable.
But the league deemed it “a hockey play that resulted in an injury because of the player colliding with the stanchion and then the ice surface.”
Chara, who said he had no intent to hurt Pacioretty, was given a major penalty for interference and a game misconduct on the play. The Bruins’ captain has never been suspended in his 13-year career.
Pacioretty told TSN he was “upset and disgusted” that the league had not suspended Chara.
“I’m not mad for myself, I’m mad because if other players see a hit like that and think it’s OK, they won’t be suspended, then other players will get hurt like I got hurt,” he said.
Pacioretty has not forgiven Chara.
“I understand, he’s in the hospital, he has a right to be emotional and I respect that,” Chara said. “I obviously feel bad that he got hurt. As a hockey player, we all feel bad that something like that happened – doesn’t matter if you’re the home team or the visiting team. I’m wishing him a fast recovery and hopefully he can be back on the ice soon and that’s all we love to do. We love to play hockey. Obviously, when we go out there, we take risks. And sometimes, we do get hurt. But, it’s just very unfortunate.”
Several legal and former law-enforcement experts expressed doubt a police investigation would result in criminal charges.
“This would be the type of case that would be very tough to prosecute,” former major crimes investigator with Quebec’s provincial police John Galianos said.
He added that the difficulty facing prosecutors would be establishing Chara’s intent to injure.
“I don’t think a Crown attorney would prosecute based on the video,” he said.
Montreal lawyer Steven Slimovitch said, “When you get involved in a sport, there is a concept of acceptance of risk. The question is did Pacioretty agree to be hit in that kind of fashion by Zdeno Chara? Was the hit so outside the norm of what is found in the sport of hockey ... that it’s not hockey anymore?”
Philadelphia defenseman Sean O’Donnell didn’t think a successful legal case could be made.
“Well, there’s always some prosecutors who would like to get their names in the papers, is what I’m thinking,” he said before the Flyers game against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Thursday night. “There was no stick brought up, there was no punch. I don’t think there’s a lot of ground for those guys to stand on.”
The Canadiens, without Pacioretty, took on the Blues Thursday in St. Louis. Coach Jacques Martin spoke at the morning skate.
“With Max, I think he’s recovering at the hospital and still being under observation,” Martin said. “Obviously, we’re not pleased with the league decision.”
Martin was asked about the criminal investigation.
“I think the organization is looking after doing the representation on the incident,” he said. “I think to me, that’s up to the organization’s responsibility.”
The Canadiens, with 81 points, were three behind first-place Boston in the Northeast before Thursday’s games.
“We had a meeting yesterday and informed the team of the situation and the status of Max,” Martin said. “Basically, he’s still recovering and our mandate is to focus on the game. Hopefully next week, they’ll be in better spirits.”

Bogosian and Slater Named 2011 Gilner-Reeves Award Recipients
Atlanta Thrashers defenseman Zach Bogosian and forward Jim Slater have been named the co-recipients of the 2011 Gilner-Reeves Community Service Award, according to Team President Don Waddell. The players received the award during an on-ice ceremony prior to this afternoon’s game at Philips Arena versus the Ottawa Senators. The award, presented annually since the Thrashers 1999-2000 inaugural season, is named in honor of Stephen Gilner and Steve Reeves, two Cobb County police officers who were killed in the line of duty in 1999. It is given to the Thrashers player who not only has made an impact on the Atlanta community, but is willing to commit his efforts and talents above and beyond the call of duty.
Gilner's wife, Elisa, and daughter, Nikki, were joined by Waddell to present the award to the players. In recognition of the award, the Atlanta Thrashers Foundation will also contribute $10,000 in the winning players’ names to Georgia children’s charities.
This season, Slater made an impactful donation to Traveler’s Aid of Metro Atlanta, and brought children with cancer to a Thrashers game. He also participated in a Hosea Feed the Hungry and Homeless event, in which players sorted food, toys and clothes for homeless families to enjoy during the holiday season. Bogosian made a $15,000 contribution to the Atlanta Thrashers Player Ticket Program to bring children from various charitable groups to every home game. He also took part in a Random Act of Kindness visit to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite, as well as the Home for the Holidays party at Philips Arena for 100 children from local non-profit organizations. As part of the event, he interacted with the children in a variety of activities, including arts and crafts, dodgeball and floor hockey.Earlier this year, the players and their teammates visited Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta to spread some holiday cheer by distributing Thrashers gifts and signing autographs, as well as the annual Casino Night Fundraising gala.
Last season, Slater was named a co-winner of the Gilner-Reeves Award, along with former Thrashers forward Marty Reasoner. This is the first time Bogosian has received the award.
I was happy until
I was really happy until I realized that Boris isn't a Boston Bruin, he's a prospect. So basically he did all this work with the Thrashers just to be a prospect again! I'm kinda mad because I was excited about seeing the other freakishly tall slovakian on the team, Zdeno Chara. That's if Zdeno isn't in jail, court or injured! Yes Chara is still dealing with the brutal hit he laid on Max Paciorett at least a month ago.Sad really, one brutal hit has caused Chara and the whole NHL to come under fire but my question is what is too brutal. I'll write more about this later!
The good die young
Patrick Swayze, one of the most classy guys ever so when he passed away in 2009 it really proved that sometimes the good really do die young, I mean come on he was only 50 when he died and what made it even harder was whenever I saw pictures there at the end of him he look so skinny and it just broke my heart. I still use the famous line "nobody puts baby in the corner" whenever one of my younger boys get into a fight cause someone hit them first or did something to them 1st. What makes this easier is that we know Patrick is in a better place, he's not suffering any more.
Patrick:
The good die young and you were one of the best!
I forgot to mention
On March 11 the thrashers played the devils for the last time but what was cool was I saw a very little and cool individual I met over the summer (@ Sulli's camp) named Sawyer head to the bench and then into the locker room. I was freaking out "AWWWWW! Sawyer! wow! He's so cute!" Sawyer is the soon of Eric Boulton and Eric had 2 of his sons on the ice with him because they were a part of the team picked as the team of the night. I know it meant a lot to Eric to have Ryder and Sawyer with him on the ice and who knows maybe a few years down the road we'll see one or more of Eric's sons on a NHL team!

Star palyer: Patrice cormeir
I believe in second chances and Patrice is getting his. Patrice had a chance in Canada until he hit a player in the nose with his elbow causing the other player to drop to the ice and have convulsions. The team the other played for filed criminal charges against Patrice! He has to pay fines and do community service hours. He's trying and I hope for his sake he does good. I wanted to honor him because he is trying to come back and get back to playing hockey. He's also trying to make people forget the whole incident. So good luck Patrice! I'm rooting for you!
That poor coach
You're seeing correctly the Vancouver Canucks have twin boys on their team. All I thought was "thank God they wear different numbers far from each other", one wears 22 while 33. My 2nd thought was "that poor coach". Could you imagine having brothers on your team and then on top of that they're identical twins? During the game last night I saw my boy Burmi look at Henrik then at Daniel like "what the....?" it was so cute. I have no clue where I was going to take this idea but it was just funny!
